Sulfamethoxazole (SMX) is a common antibiotic that considered an emerging pollutant of water bodies, as it toxic for various aquatic species. TiO2-based photocatalysis promising method SMX degradation in water. In this work, TiO2/zeolite (Z-45 loaded with TiO2 labeled TZ and ZSM-5 TZSM) composites were prepared by mechanical mixing liquid impregnation methods, the photocatalytic performance these (200 mg·L−1) was investigated toward (30 under UV light (365 nm). The pseudo-first-order reaction rate constant TZSM1450 composite 0.501 min−1, which 2.08 times higher than (k = 0.241 min−1). Complete observed 10 min using UV/TZSM1450 system. mineralization ability terms total organic carbon (TOC) removal also assessed all composites. results showed 65% 67% could be mineralized within 120 TZSM2600 TZSM1450, respectively. presence Cl− CO32− anions inhibited SMX, while NO3− had almost no effect on efficiency electrical energy per order estimated range 68.53–946.48 kWh m−3 order−1. obtained revealed shows potential photocatalyst both SMX.
