Chloramphenicol (CAP) is a widely used antibiotic drug and poses great threat to human health the ecosystem. In this work, an iron–fluorine–nitrogen (Fe–F–N) co-doped porous carbon material was innovatively prepared applied for electrocatalytic reduction of CAP from water, excellent treatment performance achieved. For initial concentration 10 mg/L, after 60 min operation, almost 100% removed. The active Fe(II) sites F-doping-induced electronic structure Fe-FNC facilitated reductive degradation by promoting electron transfer, rather than H*-mediated indirect process. Therefore, better obtained compared other catalysts such as Fe-NC FNC. reaction pathways were elucidated, ecotoxicity products assessed. toxicity intermediate found be significantly reduced, indicative good prospect method CAP-containing wastewater pretreatment.
