To remove trace cisplatin from aqueous solution, commercial sponges were functionalized by esterification with 3-mercaptopropionic acid, followed reduction Na2S·9H2O or SnCl2·2H2O. The resulting thiol-functionalized (TFSs), TFS_1 and TFS_2, tested for the removal of (235 μg L-1) achieving maximum 95.5±0.8% 99.5±0.1% respectively, which significantly higher than non-functionalized counterpart. successful grafting thiol groups, verified through FTIR, elemental analysis, SEM-EDS, XPS characterization, facilitated Pt−S complexation during adsorption. aqua-derivatives cisplatin, formed hydration, complexed sites ligand displacement. Additionally, presence Sn/SnO2 coating on TFS_2 further enhanced adsorption process. rapid process conformed to pseudo-second-order kinetic model, involving both diffusion chemisorption. While Langmuir isotherm model generally described monolayer behavior aggregation onto at 343 K introduced surface heterogeneity, rendering Freundlich a better fit isotherm. Differential pH dependence evaluation mean free energy, derived Dubinin-Radushkevich indicated that involved physisorption, including electrostatic attraction, while chemisorption predominated TFS_2. Increasing temperature notably promoted facilitating thermal-favored formation bonds. This research aims address environmental implications emerging pollutant, found in amounts hospital wastewater. Even extremely low concentrations, this cytostatic exhibits significant ecological toxicity, yet concern remains largely underemphasized, limited reported treatment methods. study holds substantial significance field pollutant management water purification as it proposes an effective approach treating wastewater containing levels cisplatin. It underscores growing risks associated discharge platinum cytostatics other pharmaceutical contaminants, seeking raise awareness highlight need improved disposal solutions.

Pharmaceutical compounds play an important role in enhancing the quality of human life. They substantially increase life expectancy humans and well-being livestock. The expansion global population has increased usage pharmaceuticals enormous way. This led to emergence pharmaceutical as environmental pollutants because these components are continuously released various water sources terrestrial ecosystems. during their synthesis, waste from veterinary healthcare sectors, dumping drugs that not used. known persist potential even at lower concentrations can create serious issues for ecosystems, especially aquatic systems. Various efforts being made remove or reduce toxicity Bioremediation using fungi is one most secure sustainable ways decontaminating polluted environments. With strong morphology diverse metabolic abilities, Fungi employ different methods including fungal enzymes clear pollutants. Studies have proven transform into less toxic components. review highlights bioremediation compounds.
