The pervasive occurrence of emerging contaminants (ECs) in sewage sludge (SWS) poses significant safety challenges concerning the processing, disposal, and secure application, ultimately jeopardizing both human health ecological environment. To comprehensively comprehend evolutionary trajectories, present state, research advancements field ECs SWS, a systematic was conducted, scrutinizing annual publication quantity, disciplinary distribution, core authors, involved nations/regions, pertinent keywords, citation status 2082 publications related to SWS from 1990 2023. results indicate substantial upward trajectory literature pertaining SWS. study encompasses 78 disciplines, including Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Water Resources. China, Spain, USA ranked among top three countries terms total frequency. majority were published reputable high-impact journals such as Science Total Environment, Chemosphere, Bioresource Technology. Based on high-frequency co-occurrence networks keywords burst analysis, it is found that environment behavior (ARGs, microplastics, PPCPs, POPs), detection analytical methods, impact treatment disposal processes, accumulation risks plants soil during land utilization, are main directions hot topics this field. In future, technologies removal expected receive increased attention.

The eco-geno-toxicological impacts of the most widely used antiviral drugs against SARS-CoV2 - ribavirin, ritonavir, nirmatrelvir and tenofovir were investigated in freshwater organisms. Ribavirin exhibited highest acute toxicity rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus at concentrations a few mg/L while ritonavir showed similar effects tens mg/L; ribavirin was also observed crustacean Ceriodaphnia dubia concentrations. In contrast, Thamnocephalus platyurus lowest sensitivity to tested with no sublethal effects. Chronic tests revelead that these antivirals induced consumers environmental concern (ng-µg/L). alga Raphidocelis subcapitata, B. C. dubia. Abstract In this study, we constructed a “turn‐off” fluorescence probe for the specific detection of antiviral agents by preparing stable reserve solutions 1,1,2,2‐tetraphenylethylene (TPE), which notably exhibits character aggregation‐induced emission (AIE). The fluorescent molecules were systematically characterized. maximum excitation and peaks located at 281 440 nm, respectively. Abstract Background Favipiravir (FAV) and oseltamivir (OSE) are antiviral agents developed against influenza they were repurposed SARS‐CoV‐2 during the COVID‐19 pandemic. This study evaluated potential of ozonation catalytic as tertiary treatment approaches for removing FAV OSE from municipal wastewaters, both in presence absence microplastics (MPs), while comparing ecotoxicity untreated treated secondary effluents to predict ecotoxicological effects these technologies wastewater treatment. Results At an initial concentration 50 μg L −1 , at pH 7 with a specific ozone dose 0.6 mg O 3 (mg DOC) yielded removals 84 64%, respectively, catalyst or MPs decreased degradation rate by 30–40%. Raising 10 had minimal impact on abatement, but improved reduction 21%. Acute toxicity tests using Vibrio fischeri demonstrated that simultaneous analytes led accumulation transformation products (TPs) OSE, their combined effect almost equal original compounds. Reproduction indicated TPs drugs generated less toxic Enchytraeus crypticus than parent chemicals. Conclusion Ozonation proved be viable option upgrading existing facilities, serving complementary minimize release antivirals reduce inhibitory earthworm reproduction, thereby enhancing reuse irrigation. © 2025 The Author(s).
