Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), as the most common phthalate, has been extensively used a plasticizer to improve plasticity of agricultural products, which pose severe harm human health. Mitochondrial dynamics and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) homeostasis are indispensable for maintaining mitochondria-associated ER membrane (MAM) integrity. In this study, we aimed explore effect DEHP on nervous system its association with ER-mitochondria interaction. Here, showed that caused morphological changes, motor deficits, cognitive impairments, blood-brain barrier disruption in brain. triggered stress, is mainly mediated by protein kinase R-like (PERK) signaling. Moreover, DEHP-induced mitofusin-2 (Mfn2) downregulation results imbalance mitochondrial dynamics. Interestingly, exposure impaired MAMs inhibiting Mfn2-PERK Above all, study elucidates axis-mediated interaction phthalate-induced neurotoxicity could be potentially developed novel therapy neurological diseases.

With increasing urbanization and rapid industrialization, more environmental problems have arisen. Phthalates (PAEs) are the foremost most widespread plasticizers readily emitted from these manufactured products into environment. PAEs act as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) can serious impacts on aquatic organisms well human health. In this study, water quality criteria (WQC) of five (dimethyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl (DEP), dibutyl (DBP), butyl benzyl (BBP) di(2-ethylhexyl) (DEHP)) for freshwater were developed using a species sensitivity distribution (SSD) toxicity percentage ranking (TPR) approach. The results showed that long-term (LWQC) SSD method could be 13.7, 11.1, 2.8, 7.8, 0.53 μg/L, respectively. Criteria continuous concentrations (CCC) derived TPR determined to 28.4, 13.1, 1.3, 2.5, 1.6 commonly measured in China surface waters at between ng/L μg/L. DBP, DEHP, di-n-octyl (DnOP) frequently detected PAEs, with occurrence rates ranging 67% 100%. ecological risk assessment decreasing order national level, DMP, DEP, DnOP. study will great benefit other countries revising standards conservation species.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the problem of environmental contamination disposable personal protective equipment, in particular face masks (FMs). As a result factors, FMs undergo aging and fragmentation processes become source microplastics (MPs) chemical additives. Taking into account scale accumulation used their fragments coastal zone, it should be expected that most appreciable ecotoxicological consequences observed hydrobionts inhabiting ecosystems. Based on this, aim this study was to investigate toxicity leachates from pristine weathered using sperm sand dollars Scaphechinus mirabilis. In our work, we FMs, which for 200 days were kept external environment under natural conditions exposed complex climatic factors. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy characterize changes occurred polymer structure during period. It follows results obtained reduced viability; stimulated lipid peroxidation products, such as malondialdehyde (MDA); significantly increased destruction DNA molecules, showing genotoxic effect. Overall, complement limited experimental data presented, indicating properties mask extracts.
