Phenolic compounds are known to be toxic and difficult degrade, which can inhibit biological denitrification. A chitosan/sodium alginate/calcium (CTS/SA/Ca2+) double-crosslinked nano zero-valent iron/nickel/carbon immobilised pellet (nZVI/Ni/C‒SA/CTS) was synthesized act as a slow-release inorganic electron donor effectively alleviate this inhibition in the long term. The structure resulted enhanced oxidation resistance dispersion of nZVI nZVI/Ni/C‒SA/CTS. total nitrogen removal rate reactor with addition nZVI/Ni/C‒SA/CTS achieved 98.52 ± 3.10%, significantly higher than that control (83.59 4.37%) group mono-crosslinked by SA/Ca2+ (89.90 2.53%). demonstrated sustained high activity, facilitated enrichment system denitrifying bacteria such Azoarcus Denitratisoma. Meanwhile, provided more Fe2+ via microelectrolysis, thereby facilitating achieving reduction nitrate nitrate-dependent anaerobic ferrous process.
