Establishing road shelter forests is a key method to reduce traffic noise pollution. However, the characteristics of various types and their effectiveness in reducing remain extensively unexplored. This study focused on five pure (PFs) one type mixed coniferous broad-leaved forest (MCBLF). By conducting field monitoring spectrum simulations, we analyzed average mass density, additional reduction economic benefits. With belt width 60 m, MCBLF reduced by 6.6 dB(A). Additionally, Forest height, crown shape, density frequency were all positively linked reduction. The was main factor affecting Linear regression analysis results showed that cumulative surface significant (p < 0.01, R2 = 0.93). Furthermore, composition had indirect effects better noise-reducing compared both PFs needle-leaved due its more complex structure. Interestingly, as became wider, benefits per unit area decreased, implying 10 m wide offered higher returns. Considering did not meet requirements. suggested 20 an optimal choice urban forest, providing effective maximized Our findings provide basis for construction sustainable development with functions.
