Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are among the persistent organic pollutants characterized by their persistence in environment, high mobility, adverse impact not only on ecosystem but also human health. The biggest challenges biomonitoring low concentrations of PFASs biological matrices presence matrix interferents samples. combination liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) solid-phase extraction (SPE) as a sample preparation technique appears to be most suitable solution for achieving desired selectivity sensitivity PFAS determination. aim this review is describe possible sources PFASs, various matrices, analytical methods determining different using pretreatment techniques complex samples, well health risks associated exposure. studied include PFOA PFOS, which frequently detected such plasma, serum, breast milk. average range from 1.0 2.6 ng.mL−1 1.9 2.4 0.4 3.1 For were 2.0–4.0 ng.mL−1, 3.7–4.6 3.6–4.8 milk, respectively. significant effects exposure long-chain (such PFOS) lipid disorders, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, thyroid infertility, cancer, obesity, autism, neurodevelopmental issues, cardiovascular diseases, kidney liver disorders. Previous studies have suggested that serum uric acid (UA) may influence depression through oxidative stress pathways, but with inconclusive results. This study aimed to investigate the association between UA levels and depression, as well potential variations across demographic subgroups in U.S. adult population. A cross-sectional analysis of 23,059 participants from NHANES (2013-2018) was conducted. Serum were classified into quartiles, measured using Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), a score ≥ 10 indicating depression. Weighted logistic regression models used analyze adjusting for clinical covariates. Subgroup analyses performed assess by sex, age, race/ethnicity, other health-related factors. Participants highest quartile had lower prevalence compared those lowest (13.9% vs. 16.2%, p = 0.004). After covariates, higher significantly associated reduced risk (OR 0.76, 95% CI: 0.67, 0.86, < 0.001 4). indicated significant interactions age (p interaction 0.051), race/ethnicity 0.027), history cardiovascular disease 0.005), more pronounced inverse associations observed among older adults, races disease. Higher inversely especially races, age. Further research is needed confirm these findings underlying mechanisms.

Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are emerging environmental endocrine disruptors that may adversely affect the human system, particularly thyroid gland, largest gland in body. An epidemiologic survey was conducted involving 318 community residents Shanghai, China, to assess PFAS exposure levels. The relationship between five function indicators analyzed using Bayesian Kernel Regression (BKMR) Weighted Quantile Sum (WQS). Ten effector genes related diseases were identified through Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD) for bioinformatics analysis pathways involved explored mediation analysis. In vivo validation of these PCR, complemented by vitro cellular experiments transcriptome sequencing construction animal models simulate mixed general population. Mixed found impact health primarily lipid metabolism toxicogenomic studies resulted upregulation key associated with models. Our results demonstrate could expression modulation transcription factors, contributing development disease.
