Mercury, a global pollutant with high biotoxicity, is widely distributed in soils, water bodies, and the atmosphere. Anthropogenic activities such as industrial emissions coal combustion release large quantities of mercury into environment, posing health risks to human populations. Strict implementation Minamata Convention innovative remediation technologies can mitigate escalating environmental public risks. This study investigated spatiotemporal dynamics soils atmosphere across four spatial scales (central city, county, township, village) within Changchun urban agglomeration, China. During spring, summer, autumn 2023, surface soil atmospheric concentrations (at 0 cm 100 cm) were measured using LUMEX RA-915+ at 361 sites. Soil exhibited seasonal variability, mean concentration 46.2 µg/kg, showing peak values spring troughs summer; decreased by 29.40% from followed 27.85% rebound autumn. Spatially, core–periphery decreasing gradient city > county township village). Average village levels 9.92%, 35.07%, 42.11% lower, respectively, than those central city. Atmospheric displayed variations; heights 6.13 ng/m3 6.75 ng/m3, both peaking summer. At cm, summer increased 35.61% compared then declined 35.96% autumn; rose 49.39% 31.08% peripheries, reductions approximately 40% 37–39% cm. significantly correlated meteorological parameters temperature humidity. Spatial autocorrelation analysis revealed scale-dependent clustering patterns: Moran’s I ranked while Structural equation modeling demonstrated that different had significant negative effect on concentrations, its compounds emissions. Organic matter content positive content. Temperature humidity positively influenced near-surface mercury. multi-scale approach elucidates agglomeration dynamics, highlighting pollution gradients patterns, thereby providing empirical evidence for regional transport studies scientific foundation future heavy metal management strategies.

Abstract There is a growing concern about the impact of environmental contamination by metals on insects owing to their biodiversity and important ecological roles. We investigated neurobehavioral traits, cellular responses, levels in tissues Nauphoeta cinerea nymphs exposed, separately ternary mixtures, arsenic (15 7.5 mg/L), copper zinc (100 50 µg/L), drinking water for 35 consecutive days. Results showed that diminutions locomotor parameters (maximum speed, motility time, distance traveled), motor turning capabilities (path efficiency, turn angle, body rotation) increase anxiety-like behavior (total time freezing episodes) were more pronounced individual metal exposure than triple mixtures groups. Barring alone group, acetylcholinesterase activity decreased significantly all treatment groups compared control. The glutathione level antioxidant enzyme activities partially attenuated fat body, midgut, head Further, nitric oxide, hydrogen peroxide, lipid peroxidation, reactive oxygen nitrogen species higher exposed mixture concentrations arsenic, copper, Collectively, detrimental effects elevated those

The “West-to-East Gas Transmission” project has accelerated economic development in Xinjiang and the central-western regions along pipeline. However, as pipeline traverses multiple cities counties Tianshan region, it significantly impacted local ecology, necessitating a comprehensive assessment. This study employs Sensitivity-Resilience-Pressure (SRP) model to construct an ecological vulnerability assessment system for aiming analyze changes evaluate environmental impact of project. results indicate that, spatially, region increases progressively from northwest southeast. Temporally, 2000 2010, mean Ecological Vulnerability Index (EVI) exhibited decreasing trend, with values 0.476, 0.464, 0.462, primarily shifting lower levels. From 2010 2020, EVI showed increasing 0.466, 0.468, predominantly transitioning heavy very vulnerability. key influencing factors ranked by importance, are NDVI, NPP, land use type, annual precipitation, aridity. Furthermore, consists three main pipelines (Lines 1, 2, 3), which buffer zone analyses were conducted at radii 1 km, 3 5 km. that patterns remained consistent across different sizes, larger associated After construction, Line decreased 0.566 0.550, while 2 nearly unchanged. In contrast, increased 0.434 0.447. Regarding levels, area improvement (18.83%) exceeded deterioration (1.09%), due high proportion zones (>80%), more likely transition Along relatively stable, indicating minimal impact. 3, (3.81%) was smaller than (20.52%), suggesting construction had pronounced impact, leading greater degradation its route.
