Owing to its unique blend of properties, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) has become one the most important polymers that have been used in everyday life for many years. Its short- and long-term applications span multiple key industries such as building, electrical/electronic insulation, packaging, healthcare. These produce high volumes PVC solid items require responsible management when they reach their end-of-life because are not biodegradable. Simple affordable methods diverting this waste from landfills would contribute positively towards combating environmental problems. However, approaches reported literature there is a need collate easier comparison. For example, some alternative highly effective transforming into range valuable products but still associated with secondary pollution. This overview covers different facets virgin (rigid, semi-rigid, flexible), focusing mainly on importance, global increase use, waste’s recyclability. In addition pros cons recycling strategies, influence specific factors expanding market also considered albeit briefly. Notably, [Formula: see text]50 % world’s annual production utilization capacity accounted by meant building applications; these drive growth market.

Microplastic (MP) transport patterns under open channel shear flow remain unclear. This study investigates the laws of MPs at various velocities, MP densities, sizes and concentrations in U-shaped experimental flume numerical based on Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM). The results indicate that average horizontal particle velocity distances Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) Polystyrene (PS) particles increase with cross-sectional velocity, while vertical decreases it. total closely matches regardless variation size, density concentration. Formula-based analysis reveals acceleration spherical mainly depends size its consequent relative drag force term (RDFT) conditions a single type particles, but RDFT gravity (RGT) case concerning different types identical sizes. maximum PVC PS are both strongly correlated cross-section. correlation lowers concentration, is independent density. Our findings can provide reference for prevention control pollution rivers.
