Abstract Submarine groundwater discharge from subterranean estuaries is affected by tides, which are represented in computational models as time‐dependent boundary conditions on the seaward boundary. Conventionally, a small time step used numerical model to phase‐resolve tidal signal so ensure accurate results, although at cost of excessive computation times for long‐term simulations. This study proposes highly efficient alternative method modeling signal, phase‐averaged pressure assigned seawater with much larger step. The condition first determined an analytical solution time‐independent condition. Along solution, single calibration factor introduced beach face account conductance beach. results good agreement between and phase‐resolved new verified comparison wide range physical cases using TOUGHREACT, simulating coupled hydrodynamic, thermodynamic, geochemical processes. shows that give except underestimation mixing zone over saltwater wedge region. These confirm suitable efficient, simulations coastal aquifers subjected forcing.
