This study investigated preferential flow infiltration patterns at three slope positions (upslope, mid-slope and downslope) of typical slopes in the Miyun Reservoir Basin. The evaluation was conducted by combining multi-index method macropore classification method, based on profile images obtained from dye tracer experiments. Multi-index analysis shows that depth is 400 mm, average uniform 56.6 mm. fraction quantified as deviation a perfectly homogeneous process up, middle down are 56.6%, 74.8% 67.5% respectively. Middle has higher level due to weights peak value, stained area stable depth. Macropore results indicate positions, mainly with mixed interaction soil matrix. Since calculation scale encompasses entire treats staining characteristics whole, it might result an underestimation outcomes. On other hand, considering pixel may lead overestimation calculated results. Combining these two methods can help judge more accurately.
