Plants perceive proteins from insect-derived oral secretion (OS) and regulate the classical endogenous hormone jasmonic acid to resist insects, but role of abscisic (ABA) in this process is poorly understood. In study, we used specialist herbivorous caterpillar Plutella xylostella cruciferous plants as a model investigate how ABA responds OS its core peptide insect. Through proteomics Western blotting analysis, glucosinolate sulfatase 1 (GSS1) was identified OS. Yeast library screening revealed that GSS1 28-amino-acid (GSS1-P1) interact with biosynthetic enzyme ABA1. Arabidopsis overexpressing treated synthetic GSS1-P1 showed elevated levels. Transcriptome analysis RT-qPCR confirmed upregulates WRKY18 ABA1 expression, modulating production. Both application optimal concentrations enhanced plant resistance herbivory. Our study shows stimulate production, boosting plant-insect highlighting ABA's potential pest-stress response.
