Effluents containing synthetic anionic dyes can pose a risk to ecosystems, and they must be treated before their release the environment. Biosorption, simple effective process, may promising solution for treating these effluents. In this work, chitosan beads were crosslinked with epichlorohydrin produce highly stable performant biosorbent remove Brilliant Blue FCF dye. The was characterized by determining functional groups on its surface, as well elemental composition, crystallinity, surface morphology. Crosslinking significantly improved biosorption capacity of beads. A maximum 600 mg/g corresponding 99% removal efficiency observed at pH 3.0, dose 0.5 g/L, an initial dye concentration 300 mg/L, contact time 10 h, temperature 323 K. in described Langmuir isotherm followed adsorption kinetic pseudo second order. thermodynamic parameters indicate spontaneous process. presence anions such NO3- SO42- could interfere beads, but Cl- did not Over three biosorption/desorption cycles, showed 97% desorption rate over 98%. Chitosan is available worldwide low-cost biomaterial, presenting high potential used treat industrial effluents compounds, dyes.

Industrialization and globalization have caused severe environmental problems, such as contaminating water bodies by toxic agents from various industries, generating a significant loss of biodiversity health risks. Globally, approximately 80% wastewater is discharged without treatment, worsening the situation. However, in Colombia, initiatives been taken to improve management, with ambitious investments targets treatment infrastructure. Recently, advanced technologies developed treat wastewater, including more efficient sustainable biological methods, using coconut-derived adsorbent biomaterials, rich useful properties for adsorption pollutants solutions. This research focuses on developing composite biomaterial cellulose acetate (CA) extracted coconut mesocarp polyhydroxy butyrate (PHB), casting method, wastewater.
