This review article offers a literature search of the most active, new copper (II) anticancer complexes based on nitrogen-containing ligands, reported in over past 5 years: from beginning 2019, until mid-2024. In modern world, cancer remains one deadliest diseases all. Although years ongoing research allowed us to better understand its nature, and thus aim more precisely at specific molecular targets pathways, many aspects remain unclear. Today, chemotherapy still forefront treatment. With ever-growing struggles overcome chemoresistance occurrence serious side effects, discovery new, selective active drugs is task an utmost importance. At same time, (II)-based compounds offer wide array biological activities valuable biochemical properties. provides update recent advances potential among five years.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide. Late diagnosis, low drug selectivity, high toxicity, and treatment resistance are challenges associated with pharmacological interventions. The commonly used therapies include surgery, radiotherapy, hormonal therapy, immunotherapy, chemotherapy. Recently, Cu complexes have been studied owing to their biological functions effects on tumor angiogenesis. In this review, we examined 23 types cancer revealed use cell lines. synthesis ligands such as phenanthroline thiosemicarbazones has also reported. Such co-ligation promising because its cytotoxicity selectivity. Compared cisplatin, complexes, especially mixed showed better interactions DNA, generating reactive oxygen species inducing apoptosis. Nanoformulations adopted improve activity compounds. They enhance efficacy by targeting them tissue, thereby improving safety. Studies explored clinically relevant pharmacophores, suggesting a “hybrid chemotherapy” against resistant tumors. Overall, demonstrated therapeutic versatility, antitumor efficacy, reduced adverse effects, showing great potential alternatives conventional chemotherapy justifying future clinical investigations validate use.

Abstract β‐Carboline nucleus is therapeutically valuable in medicinal chemistry for the treatment of varied number diseases, most importantly cancer. The potent and wide‐ranging activity β‐carboline has established them as imperative pharmacological scaffolds especially cancer treatment. Numerous derivatives such Tetrahydro β‐carbolines, metal complexed mono, di tri substituted β‐carbolines have been reported to possess dynamic anticancer activity. These different had shown mechanism action plays important role drug discovery development. review an update both synthetic natural origin acting through various targets against cancerous cells. In addition this, studies multitarget molecules designed by coupling along with other mechanisms neoplasm are also summarized.
