Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the most urgent public health problems worldwide; multidrug (MDR) also concern. In an effort to find new classes antibiotics, recent studies have found that coordination compounds noble metals show promising biological effects both in vitro and vivo, deserving attention as a class possible antimicrobial agents. Metal ions systems can essentially two roles: structural or functional. former, metal ion serves stabilize structures, especially proteins, while latter, involved bio-site reactivity (essentially metallo-enzymes). Two complexes with 2-(1-ethyl-benzyl)pyridine (pyeb), monodentate adduct cyclometalated ([Au(pyeb)Cl3] [Au(pyeb-H)Cl2], respectively), been synthesized, characterized, tested against Gram-positive Gram-negative bacteria, well yeasts, revealing antibacterial antibiofilm properties. The thoroughly characterized by means 1D 2D NMR spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, conductivity measurements, FT-IR, elemental analysis. study showed derivatives are structurally chemically different, complex being electrochemically more stable. assays demonstrated solutions inhibitory pathogenic bacteria E. coli, K. pneumoniae, S. aureus, pyogenes but were unable reveal fungicidal effect on C. albicans. A preliminary was conducted assess anti-cancer activity compounds, treatments gold resulted significant reduction metabolic HT29 colon cancer cells.
