Although cases of Zika virus disease (ZVD) have declined globally since 2017, new outbreaks been reported, such as in Asia 2024. As there is no vaccine or treatment available to date, both vaccines and mAbs neutralizing would be great interest, especially for pregnant women immunocompromised patients those living with HIV. This review focuses on insights regarding ZVD the last two years summarizes key literature global epidemiology, transmission, diagnostics, clinical features, preventive measures, options. At time writing, endemic across tropical subtropical regions world, highest risk infection Latin America Caribbean, but significant peaks outbreak activity regions. There are ongoing efforts further investigate epidemiological long-term sequelae large Americas 2015-2018; refinement diagnostic tools improve specificity view cross-reactivity potential, particularly dengue virus. Multiple different development stages; however, phase 3 trials awaiting next epidemic. While current major zika outbreak, progress has made work-up clinical-epidemiological data, tools, mainly (vaccines) rather than curative (drugs) tools.

Summary Background The global cancer burden is rising, with early-onset cancers becoming more prevalent. We aimed to investigate the burden, trend and population disparity in 33 from 2012 2021. Methods Annual incidence, death, disability-adjusted life years (DALY) numbers rates for (15–49 years) groups were calculated Global Burden of Diseases (GBD) 2021 dataset, covering 2012–2021 across global, five SDI groupings, 204 countries territories. Estimated annual percentage change (EAPC) mortality DALY was quantify temporal trends, while spearman correlation analysis used examine between rates, EAPC SDI. Results In 2021, there 2.65 million new cases excluding non-melanoma skin (NMSC), resulting 0.99 deaths 50.7 DALYs. Breast, tracheal, bronchus lung (TBL), cervical, colon stomach leading causes rate NMSC changed 65.7 67.0 an estimated -0.49%. While plateaued females, it decreased by -0.95% males. Ten exhibited > 0. high quintile had 1,100 DALYs per 100,000 caused NMSC, highest declining high-middle rates. Rising trends incidence especially notable among females middle, low-middle, low quintiles. Conclusion differs significantly gender. increasing multiple poses a significant public health challenge. rising types alarming, highlighting need increased policy support targeted medical assistance address disparities their impact.
