Abstract Strict requirements on the surface qualities of cemented carbide have been raised in manufacturing functional components and glass molding. However, high hardness increases difficulty improving qualities. The application ductile‐regime machining theory to improve quality is unsatisfactory because severe tool wear, varying factors microstructure defects induced by stress. To illustrate complex mechanism removal carbide, firstly, for are introduced. Secondly, methods evaluating mechanical properties discussed terms microstructures. Thirdly, conflicts between traditional analyzed, leading proposed limitations solutions applying composite materials. In addition, developments ultra‐hard tools energy field‐assisted techniques applied summarized discussed. Finally, technical challenges future this field further pointed out.

Black phosphorus (BP) stands out among vdW materials for chemical sensing, with its edge sites offering the potential to enhance performance. While nanocutting method shows promise BP fabrication, underlying mechanism remains unclear, lacking guidance process. In this study, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were conducted investigate material removal behavior during of while considering influence cutting thickness, tool radius, and angle. These findings indicate that plastic is primarily governed by interlayer slip when using a relatively large rake contrast, at small angle, brittle state occurs due formation expansion shear band spanning across layers, leading crack propagation. Additionally, as thickness approaches "size effect" observed in BP. This phenomenon results both decreased deformation singular decrease force, ultimately causing an increase chip deviation. The research offer comprehensive theoretical foundation serve technical reference fabrication nanostructures sensing via nanocutting.
