Nowadays, the development of plant extracts as corrosion inhibitors to protect metals from is a popular research direction. However, given vast diversity species in nature, it imperative explore effective methods improve screening efficiency order quickly identify inhibition potential plants. In this work, new strategy for developing plant-extracted eco-friendly based on family and genus plants proposed. Three different genera Asteraceae family, including Artemisia argyi extract (AAE), Chrysanthemum indicum (CIE), Centipeda minima (CME), were selected successfully prepared novel Q235 steel sulfuric acid solution. The behavior corresponding mechanism systematically investigated by using some electrochemical tests (open circuit potential, potentiodynamic polarization, impedance spectroscopy) surface characterizations (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy). experimental results illustrated that main components three similar when combined with KI mixed-type inhibitors, they could dramatically slow down metal rate. maximum value reached 96.29%, 96.50%, 97.52%, respectively, at 200 mg/L increase 98.64%, 97.65%, 99.06%, prolonged immersion time. A synergistic effect exists between KI, leading firm adsorption molecules onto surface, thereby forming robust protective film. This work demonstrated possessed capabilities, providing way select numerous classification.

This work presents a comparative study of five rare earth compounds—Erbium nitrate pentahydrate lll (Er), Neodymium (Nd), Samarium III Nitrate Hexahydrate (Sm), Yterbium Chloride (Yb) and Praseodymium hexahydrate (Pr)—protecting API 5L X70 steel from corrosion in saline medium that uses electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) polarization curves (CPs) at different concentrations static mode. The results show Erbium is the best inhibitor, containing 50 ppm reaching an inhibition efficiency about 89%, similar result was shown by Sm with IE~87.9%, while other earths (Nd, Yb Pr) showed decrease protection same concentration, since they were below IE~80%. On hand, Langmuir model it possible to describe adsorption process three follows combined physisorption–chemisorption protect metal’s surface. observed free energy, ΔG°ads, reaches −38.7 kJ/mol for Er, −34.4 Nd, −33.6 Pr; whereas have energies −33.9 −35.0 kJ/mol, respectively. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) atomic force (AFM) further confirmed formation protective film. This study introduces Centaurea napifolia as a novel multifunctional corrosion inhibitor and zinc-electroplating additive previously unexplored in the field. Hydro-methanolic, methylene dichloride, ethyl acetate, n-butanol extracts were investigated for their dual functionality: inhibiting of carbon steel improving performance zinc electrodeposition on mild steel. Using techniques such potentiodynamic polarization, gravimetric methods, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive profilometry, significant improvements brightness, resistance, coating quality, adhesiveness have been found. Notably, adding 3.2 g/l butanolic extract achieved an optimal rate 0.038 mm/y, substantial improvement over unplated plated samples without additives, reduced current density from 0.3235 mA/cm² to low 0.0033 mA/cm². These showed effective inhibition against acidic environments with efficiencies up 82%, following Langmuir isotherm model physical adsorption being spontaneous exothermic, highlighting potential eco-friendly alternatives metal protection. findings translate economic opportunities industries reliant protection systems by offering that could reduce environmental impact while enhancing durability components used practical or industrial applications.

Abstract In recent years, there has been growing interest in the use of safe, non‐polluting substances, due to increased environmental awareness and stricter protection regulations. This development led emergence a new class corrosion inhibitors, known as green inhibitors. The present study aims evaluate inhibitory effect different concentrations Ricinodendron heudelotii (RHA) almond extract on XC70 mild steel 0.5 M hydrochloric acid (HCl) solution. evaluation was performed using weight loss measurements, electrochemical techniques, surface characterization methods. Potentiodynamic polarization tests revealed that RHA functions mixed‐type inhibitor. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) showed increasing concentration leads higher charge transfer resistance lower double‐layer capacitance. adsorption inhibitor onto followed Langmuir isotherm model, confirmed formation protective layer. results demonstrate is an effective inhibitor, achieving maximum inhibition efficiency 92% at 1.2 g/L.
