This
study
investigates
the
microplasma
deposition
of
molten
tantalum
(Ta)
onto
a
rotating
Grade
5
Ti
Extra-Low
Interstitial
(ELI)
alloy,
producing
multilayer
film
coatings
with
porous
microstructure.
Optimal
parameters
for
spraying
Ta
were
experimentally
determined
to
improve
surface
properties
elbow
joint
implants.
The
physical
and
mechanical
ELI
substrate
Ta-based
coating
analyzed.
Moreover,
mathematical
modeling
was
utilized
determine
optimal
plasma
process,
including
key
factors
such
as
spray
distance,
current,
rotational
speed,
which
systematically
applied
across
three
experimental
series.
A
thickness
250
μm
achieved
at
35
410
mm
7
rpm
rotation
speed
under
optimized
conditions.
results
showed
microhardness
increase
on
Ta-coated
surface,
peaking
above
HV1000
an
average
HV742,
while
averaged
HV325.
Additionally,
XRD
patterns
revealed
presence
metallic
alongside
oxides,
Ta2O
Ta2O5,
in
coatings.
