Abstract The large and rapidly growing family of 2D early transition metal carbides, nitrides, carbonitrides (MXenes) raises significant interest in the materials science chemistry communities. Discovered a little more than decade ago, MXenes have already demonstrated outstanding potential various applications ranging from energy storage to biology medicine. past two years witnessed increased experimental theoretical efforts toward studying MXenes’ mechanical tribological properties when used as lubricant additives, reinforcement phases composites, or solid coatings. MXene sheets, as new 2D nanomaterials, have been used in many advanced applications due to their superior thin-layered architecture, well capability be employed novel nanocontainers for applications. In this research, intercalated Ti3C2 sheets were synthesized through an etching method, and then they modified with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES). Cerium cations (Ce3+) eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor encapsulated within fabricate self-healing epoxy nanocomposite coatings. The protection performance (CPP) of Ce3+-doped nanosheets (Ti3C2 MXene-Ce3+) a 3.5 wt % sodium chloride (NaCl) solution was studied on bare mild steel substrates using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) potentiodynamic polarization measurements. CPP coatings loaded 1 undoped doped evaluated EIS, salt spray, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) techniques. introduction MXene-Ce3+ into the corrosive artificially scribed coating enhanced total from 717 6596 Ω cm2 8876 32092 cm2, respectively, after 24 h immersion compared control samples.
