2D black phosphorus (BP) degrades irreversibly into phosphate compounds under ambient conditions, which limits its application in a variety of fields. In this study, by coating amorphous ferric-cobalt oxides (CoFeO) on BP nanosheets, multifunctional CoFeO@2D is successfully developed that effectively inhibited combustion and catalyzed CO oxidation to eliminate toxic gases. Strong affinity between transition-metal cations allowed the uniform growth ferric‒cobalt surface, prevented spontaneous degradation BP. By combining with gelatin kosmotropic salts, as-obtained nanocoatings are used for surface treatment flammable polyurethane foam (PU). Kosmotropic ions induced strong hydrophobic interactions bundling within chains significantly enhanced mechanical performance PU. accelerates carbonization inhibit PU, CoFe oxides, act as true active centers accelerate CO, inhibiting production harmful gas. The release rate decreases 73% limiting oxygen index (LOI) increases from 17% ≈32% during PU combustion. novel material opens way coatings integrated durability, flame retardancy, high smoke suppression efficiency.
