This study analyzed the changes in landscape patterns and ecological health status of karst plateau wetlands, providing valuable insights into their conservation. Using land cover data from 1996 to 2021, DEM, Landsat series satellite imagery, this employed ecology methods pressure–state–response (PSR) model framework. A regional grid was constructed, 13 indicators were selected establish an evaluation system for wetlands. allowed us explore spatiotemporal change characteristics pattern The results showed that over a 25-year period, farmland, grassland, construction areas have increased, whereas forested decreased. Water bodies remained relatively stable but trend transitioning grassland. Unused no significant change. Landscape analysis indicated grasslands experience highest rate fragmentation, complex shapes, greater heterogeneity, water lowest more regular lower heterogeneity. Other types exhibited moderate characteristics. Overall, area high specific patch aggregation, density, low diversity. comprehensive revealed wetland value at “unhealthy” level 2021. Although there brief improvement 2010, effective long-term recovery not achieved. Spatially, proportion “diseased” peaked 2006, most zones state years, with none reaching “healthy” standard. These findings highlight severe challenges faced by ecosystem.
