Background: Oral epithelial dysplasia (OED) is considered one of the premalignant lesions for oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), which five-year disease-free survival rate may vary widely. There has emerged in recent years, therefore, a significant niche optical coherence tomography (OCT) to non-invasively examine tissue morphology. The present study was conducted evaluate diagnostic performance OCT distinguishing between mild, moderate, and severe dysplasias situ (CIS) with histopathological correlations. Methods: This prospective, single-centre included 120 patients clinically suspicious lesions. All underwent vivo imaging followed by surgical excision examination. sensitivity, specificity, AUC (area under curve) were calculated as measures accuracy. Results: demonstrated high sensitivity specificity above 80% all grades dysplasia. values highest moderate at 0.91 mild 0.89. Bland–Altman analysis revealed degree agreement histopathology regarding tumour depth measurements. Interobserver substantial almost perfect, kappa ranging from 0.74 0.85. provided key features thickening, basement membrane disruption, architectural disorganization. These had good correlations grade dysplasia: r = 0.75–0.82, p < 0.001. Conclusions: an established technique that non-invasive nature diagnosis OED; it can provide fine differentiation among define margins lesion.

Oral cancer refers to cancers originating in the oral cavity and oropharyngeal regions. It is 16th most prevalent sixth leading cause of cancer-related deaths. However, mechanisms its progression are still being understood, interventions provide early diagnosis need be improved. More studies have recently been conducted on cancer, many reviews summarized findings this field, focusing individual factors. few review articles evaluated combinational impacts different factors cancer. This aimed an overview effects three extracellular factors, including lifestyle habits, microbiome, socioeconomic progression. differentially affected by habits; high-sugar diets, processed foods, alcohol, smoking, possibly sleep disorders benefit progression, whereas eating natural such as fruits, vegetables, fish, garlic, drinking tea or coffee, physical exercise can combat it. The microbiome could suppress promote Low status impact development. Oral cancer is a common malignant tumor, and its incidence has steadily increased in recent years. Sleep disturbances, including insomnia obstructive sleep apnea, are prevalent among patients with oral significantly impact their quality of life. Emerging research suggests bidirectional relationship between disorders. This article reviews how induces or exacerbates disorders, particularly apnea (OSA), through factors such as pain, psychological stress, treatment-related side effects (e.g., upper airway damage caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgical interventions). Furthermore, it analyzes disorders may promote progression via chronic inflammation, intermittent hypoxia, oxidative disruption circadian rhythms. By elucidating these interactions, this review provides theoretical foundation for optimizing clinical treatment plans holistic understanding shared pathophysiological mechanisms.
