Running outdoors is an increasingly popular form of physical activity and has been proven to substantially reduce the risk major chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease. The topic runnability received considerable attention but with conflicting conclusions remaining gaps. environment its features impact running experiences. Detecting facilitating deterring runners crucial promoting this and, therefore, overall health. A scoping review current literature was conducted identify environmental factors conducive running. Online databases were used all articles on date; a total one hundred two (n = 102) papers selected they identified correlates preferred by runners. Findings include preference for green spaces connecting nature, perceptions higher safety away from traffic congestion pollution, routes wide, smooth surfaces high connectivity. Essentially, natural surroundings are more desirable than urban settings. Studies have shown that even when route within environment, it usually connected or between spaces.

Urban parks are pivotal in the sustainable development of urban ecosystems, significantly enhancing ecological environment and residents’ quality life. To scientifically improve park management ensure long-term sustainability, this study aims to establish a framework for understanding predicting spatial perceptions parks. Overcoming constraints traditional empirical research, conducted questionnaire survey involving 701 residents from Beijing Chaoyang Park, Shanghai Century Guangzhou Yuexiu Park May July 2024. By combining semantic differential (SD) method, importance–performance analysis (IPA), cognitive map methods, holistically assessed their variations The SD highlighted perceptional differences three parks, revealing needs tailored planning considering personal characteristics geographical location, which is essential services overall satisfaction. Comparative showed significant preferences different resident groups, with facing sense deprivation due weaker natural features, suggesting critical role elements design, while Parks were highly valued aligning design local preferences. Cognitive maps reveal perception particularly familiarity social functions, artificial landscapes, internal attractions informs integration that cater varying foster stronger place. This confirms effectiveness methods quantitatively evaluating perception, provides useful references

ABSTRACT The increase in the use of trails for outdoor recreation recent decades has led to pressure on existing and creation informal new ones, resulting damage degradation some these infrastructures. This is concerning because many are located protected natural areas, which aim conserve resources associated biodiversity. Concurrently, ecosystems worldwide have also been experiencing increased degradation, prompting United Nations declare this Decade Ecosystem Restoration. In context, through a systematic review scientific literature, our study identifies significant gaps knowledge regarding management degraded areas worldwide. We observed that number research studies growing, particularly last decade, concentrated countries with developed economies by researchers from countries. Notably, while literature trail abundant, there pronounced scarcity empirical focusing strategies reversal such degradation. Moreover, variability terms as restoration, recovery, rehabilitation across indicates lack consensus may hinder effective communication implementation address Thus, strength lies its ability bridge providing comprehensive analysis current terminologies methodologies. By clarifying terms' meanings, enhances their application management. enhancement, turn, boosts practices aids global effort restore ecosystems. Not only does work map out landscape, but it underscores urgent need more targeted could inform practical, restoration areas.

This study investigates the factors influencing urban residents’ interest in and visits to forests explores strategies promote forest space utilization. A survey was conducted among 5000 residents of Tokyo’s 23 wards, one world’s most densely populated areas, using an online questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed least absolute shrinkage, selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression, piecewise structural equation modeling (pSEM). analysis revealed that nature experiences current travel destinations, particularly scenic walks, had a significant positive effect on both (standardized path coefficient = 0.19) (0.30). These also significantly influenced by childhood frequent local walks. Conversely, negatively affecting included lack private vehicle ownership (−0.13) increasing age (−0.21). While previous studies suggest older individuals tend visit natural areas more frequently, our findings indicate opposite trend. One possible explanation is low car rate Tokyo residents, which may limit accessibility forests. provide valuable insights for policy design, regarding enhance engagement populations.
