Abstract In the emerging era of infectious diseases, antimicrobials are widely applied against pathogenic microbes (i.e., bacteria, fungus, or virus) to avoid global mortality. Nonetheless, quite a few microbiome adopted genetic mutations over extended period and fostered sustainable resistance towards existing newer antibiotics. Carbon dots (CDs) carbon‐based nanomaterials, unveiled their potential as antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral agents resembled with ease synthesis, reduced toxicity, smart functionalization, high aqueous dispersibility, auspicious biocompatibility. This review has emphasized discussion corroborated types CDs numerous properties tailored biofunctionalization. Further article was featured antiviral, bioimaging, biosensing, anticancer responsiveness (in vivo in vitro mode) followed by biocompatibility, toxicity assessments, challenges, future prospectives.

Abstract: Chinese herbal medicines and their extracts will produce nano-components of charcoal drugs after high-temperature carbonization, the process is similar to that carbon dots (CDs). medicine-derived CDs (CHM-CDs) are a new carbon-based nanomaterial with particle size less than 10 nm discovered in recent years. CHM-CDs possess range beneficial traits, such as minimal toxicity, strong water solubility, superior biocompatibility, remarkable photoluminescence capabilities. Additionally, they exhibit multifaceted pharmacological activity absence drug loading. Over past half-decade, numerous publications have presented evidence suggesting wide array effects. These primarily encompass hemostatic capabilities, neuroprotection, anti-infective, antitumor, immunomodulatory effects hypoglycemic activity. Notably, been associated circulatory system, digestive nervous immune endocrine urinary system skeletal system. This article systematically reviews modern potential mechanisms CHM-CDs, offering insights into current challenges proposing directions for future advancements. As such, it serves vital reference clinical application CHM-CDs. Keywords: medicines, dots, effects,
