PTSD prevalence in the military is high and effective treatments are underutilized. Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) 'check-ups', brief interventions to elicit treatment engagement for those who nontreatment seeking. One hundred sixty-one active-duty service members were randomized MET or Treatment as Usual (TAU, resource referral). participants (n=82) received up three 45-90 minute telephone sessions. TAU (n=79) mailed resources referrals. Follow-up assessments conducted 6-weeks, 3-, 6- months post-baseline. Mixed effect model results indicated significantly increased over time but there no significant differences between conditions interactions. symptom severity decreased both conditions. There was also a three-way interaction with baseline readiness-to-change confidence. Those low saw more favorable effects of (relative control) at 6-month follow-up. Results suggest high-quality referral options have promise means increasing evidence-based decreasing PTSD. may be particularly useful individuals confidence their ability address Given individual societal costs PTSD, need facilitating seeking engagement.

Abstract Background Loneliness can have a detrimental impact on health, yet little is known about the association between disability and loneliness. Methods Secondary analysis of three waves data collected 2017 2020 by UK’s annual household panel study, Understanding Society . Direct age-standardisation was used to compare prevalence loneliness at each wave persistence across all for participants with/without disabilities aged 16–65 years. Transitional probabilities stability loneliness, non-loneliness, onset offset consecutive were also estimated. Results At wave, significantly higher among respondents with than without disabilities; these inequalities persisted no evidence change over time. The persistent 46% compared 22% disabilities. Risk factors likelihood included disability, financial stress, not living as couple, in rented accommodation, being female employed. probability successive markedly people Conclusion Adults more likely experience become lonely remain time their peers. Negative mental health outcomes are prevalent among veterans exposed to military-related stressors and associated with social isolation. Limited research exists on resilience following military separation its impact isolation in veterans. U.S. (N = 351, 70.4% men) who deployed the wars around Iraq Afghanistan September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks (9/11) recruited as part of a assessment study examining predictors postdeployment adjustment. Using residualization approach, was approximated low stressor reactivity (SR), calculated by regressing onto exposure. Military-related significantly posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) related both events during post-9/11 deployment (deployment event) outside (other event), functional disability, depression. After correcting for multiple comparisons, only SR derived from depressive symptoms predicted more closeness difficulties relationships longitudinally, B 0.50, q .023.
