Recently, the relationship between reading fiction and understanding mental states of others has become an important research interest. Several studies across psychology literature (relational neuroimaging, functional magnetic resonance imaging, fMRI) support this relationship, while some experimental evidence suggests that exposure to improves our ability understand others. Research indicates effect is particular literary fiction. Due reading, it suggested can be used not only healthy individuals' but also in clinical assessment intervention processes. This review aims discuss relationships provide implication for clinician researchers.
