Previous studies have shown a positive association between sedentary behavior (SB) and metabolic syndrome (MetS), but no assessed the mediating effect of depressive symptoms in this process. Participants from 2007-2018 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) were included. Multiple logistic regression analyses restricted cubic splines (RCSs) adopted to assess correlations among SB duration, depressed mood MetS. A mediation model was constructed analyze whether there on relationship duration This study included 15,944 adults (7,268 patients with MetS total). We identified high as an independent risk factor for adjusted relevant confounders (odds ratio (OR) = 1.29, 95% CI [1.08, 1.53]). RCS analysis revealed nonlinear The that accounted 6.70% Depressive also partially mediated subcomponents. is closely associated MetS, not only caused by itself symptoms.
