Purpose Drawing on upper echelons theory (UET), this study empirically explores how artificial intelligence (AI) has influenced the top management team’s (TMT) decision-making process in business management. Design/methodology/approach This article is based 21 semi-structured interviews with managers leading AI integration their organizations. It adopts an inductive approach and applies Gioia methodology. Findings The research identifies four primary areas of impact for TMTs managing digital processes: (1) hybrid process, (2) AI’s ethical implications, (3) TMT governance through AI, (4) AI-driven competitive advantage. Also, a framework been developed that provides initial understanding integrating organizations affects TMT’s process. Practical implications practical insights leveraging technologies to enhance processes. Additionally, it offers helpful guidance stay at forefront innovation adaptability ever-evolving world. Originality/value Our findings highlight critical role processes transformed by AI. Moreover, extends UET, highlighting influences these decisions
