Background: Since the advent of integrated residency programs in 1960s, plastic and reconstructive surgery (PRS) match has become increasingly competitive, with 1.8 applicants per available position 2022. The study aimed, first, to determine characteristics 2016-2022 PRS resident cohort that were associated successful matching and, second, identify attributes medical schools produced most residents within this 6-year period. Methods: Using publicly websites, demographic training at ACGME-accredited programs, plus class size, affiliated presence Plastic Surgery interest groups (PSIGs) US collected analyzed. Results: Of 1122 matched residents, 48% female, 5% international graduates, 99% held MD degrees, 13% additional graduate-level 33% awarded AΩA. Georgetown University had largest number its graduates into 31, New York percentage 3.17%. On average, both an independent program more enter (10.6), compared those only (8.9) or (5.7) ( p = 0.01). Conclusions: Nearly all graduated from allopathic schools. Additionally, greatest a home and/or PSIG. Further exploration advantageous disadvantageous factors could help areas improve equity diversity training.
