This study evaluates the heavy metals concentrations in sprat (Sprattus sprattus, Linnaeus, 1758) from Romanian Black Sea, assessing both ecological implications and human health risks associated with consumption. Using long-term data spanning 1994–2019, levels of copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr) dorsal muscle tissues were analyzed to identify contamination trends episodic pollution events. Although most remained below regulatory thresholds, occasional exceedances Cd Pb suggest intermittent inputs. Health assessed using dietary indices including estimated daily intake (EDI), target hazard quotient (THQ), total (TTHQ), carcinogenic risk index (CRI). Findings indicate that, under current exposure levels, regular consumption poses minimal risk. However, prolonged during peak periods may contribute cumulative toxic effects, for ecosystem stability food safety. Given persistence their interactions co-occurring pollutants, such as persistent organic pollutants (POPs) polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), ongoing monitoring remains essential. supports development sustainable environmental policies aimed at protecting marine biodiversity consumer Sea region.

Heavy metal contamination in marine ecosystems poses a critical environmental challenge, with significant implications for biodiversity, trophic dynamics, and human health. Marine fish are key bioindicators of heavy pollution because their role food webs capacity bioaccumulation transfer. This review synthesizes current knowledge on the pathways mechanisms accumulation fish, focusing factors that influence uptake, retention, tissue distribution. We explore processes governing transfer biomagnification, highlighting species-specific patterns risks posed to apex predators, including humans. Additionally, we assess ecological consequences at population, community, ecosystem levels, emphasizing its effects reproduction, community structure, interactions. By integrating recent findings, this highlights gaps suggests future research directions improve monitoring risk assessment. Given persistence bioavailability metals environments, effective control strategies sustainable fisheries management imperative mitigate long-term public health risks.

Boron-doped diamond electrodes have found applications in the detection, monitoring, and mitigation of toxic chemicals resulting from various industries human activities. The boron-doped electrode is a widely applicable technology this field, primarily due to its excellent surface characteristics: minimal no adsorption, wide operating potential range, robustness, high selectivity. These extraordinary properties can be further enhanced through termination, which additionally improve analytical performance (BDD) electrodes. accuracy precision developed methods indicate broad practical applicability these across sample matrices. Some studies shown that different strategies lead sensitivity selectivity, such as modifying (nanostructuring), forming composite materials based on BDD, or implementing miniaturization techniques. Thus, review summarizes recent literature electroanalytical BDDE surfaces, with particular focus environmental applications.
