In this work, the inhibition performance of ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([EMIm]Cl) on corrosion heat-treated welded joint duplex stainless steel UNS S31803 in 1 mol L-1 HCl solution at room temperature was investigated using electrochemical measurements and surface analysis. The results obtained from potentiodynamic polarization demonstrated that [EMIm]Cl is a moderate inhibitor for acts as mixed-type with predominant effect anodic reactions. efficiency increased increasing concentration inhibitor, reaching maximum protection 70% 4 mmol L-1. Surface morphology analysis confocal microscopy revealed reduction damage presence suggesting formation protective film could inhibit products. adsorption followed Langmuir's isotherm. thermodynamic parameters indicated occurred by chemical physical process. Therefore, indicate has potential sustainable alternative joints acidic environments.
