The tear film has a complex composition allowing it fulfill multiple functions, such as optical, lubrication, immunological, endocrine, and neurotrophic, which are relevant for visual health. Alterations in its components, both quality quantity, will affect homeostasis, also impacting the ocular surface, leading to condition known “dry eye”. Dry eye high global prevalence, is further increasing due environmental factors (mainly screen mainly) overall rise life expectancy. Several products available treatment, but lubricants, generally referred “artificial tears”, continue be crucial. There wide variety of lubricant formulations with different indications, which, when used appropriately according type severity dry eye, allow effective customized treatment. Considering complexity relevance this issue, Latin American Study Group on Lubricants Eye (LUBOS) was formed. This work represents consensus aim creating diagnostic therapeutic algorithm focused proper use providing practical guidance general ophthalmologists.

Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a psychiatric eating disorder characterized by body mass index (BMI) ≤ 18.5, fear of gaining weight, and distorted perception weight. With increasing rates myopia, there population patients who concurrently develop AN may seek corneal refractive surgery. This study reviews the ophthalmic manifestations provides preliminary guidelines for with undergoing The literature search was conducted through PubMed, Scopus, Ovid databases June 2, 2024, publications detailing ocular AN. These findings were then considered in context potential complications after surgery, preoperative formulated. Twelve articles described total 114 (227 eyes) manifestations. Among studied eyes, 14% had surface abnormalities, 5% cataracts/visual disturbances, 64% posterior segment 20% orbital/neurological abnormalities. Integrative medicine techniques are increasingly accepted into the treatment paradigm for many chronic disorders including eye disease. Over 71% of patients, 67% those with disorders, use some form therapy. Physicians should be well versed in evidence-based therapies to know how refer patients best complimentary care. We highlight most effective integrative therapeutics from different complementary paradigms offer a framework approaching therapy ocular surface (OSDs).
