China is facing many challenges caused by climate change, and residential energy consumption affected change. This study investigates the response of electricity to temperature change in different cities based on panel data from 278 prefecture-level 2011 2019 using an extended stochastic impacts regression population, affluence, technology model (extended STIRPAT model). The results show that: (1) Urban (uec) temperature, heating degree days (hdd) cooling (cdd) lead increase consumption, with impact coefficients 0.132 0.154, respectively. (2) Due difference economic development level, both hdd cdd promote uec eastern region; has a promoting effect central region but no significant western region. (3) differences habits, northern southern regions trends temperature. hot weather more sensitive region, while shows irregular “U” shape. this aid decision makers adjusting supply demand.
