Sugarcane bagasse (SCB) is the fibrous lignocellulosic residue left over after crushing sugarcane to extract juice for sugar and ethanol production. In this review, a concise overview of existing thermochemical technologies production biochar from SCB its potential applications presented discussed. Some used so far in regard include pyrolysis, gasification, hydrothermal carbonization, torrefaction. However, pyrolysis was found be most widely among them. These processes can affected by several operating conditions such as temperature, heating rate, particle size, residence duration, with temperature being significant efficient variable influencing quality biochar. The yield reported literature ranged 14 % 56 %. A higher obtained at lower than one because decomposes temperatures (>500 °C). has promising agriculture environment, including soil amendment, adsorbent water wastewater treatment, supplementary cementitious material, amongst others. knowledge gaps were also stated study, cost analysis comparison utilizing fuel industries become highly carbon material wide range variety sectors.

Microplastics, measuring less than 5 mm in diameter, are now found various environmental media, including soil, water, and air, have infiltrated the food chain, ultimately becoming a part of human diet. This study offers comprehensive examination intricate nexus between microplastics health, thereby contributing to existing knowledge on subject. Sources microplastics, microfibers from textiles, personal care products, wastewater treatment plants, among others, were assessed. The meticulously examined diverse routes microplastic exposure—ingestion, inhalation, dermal contact—offering insights into associated health risks. Notably, ingestion has been linked gastrointestinal disturbances, endocrine disruption, potential transmission pathogenic bacteria. Inhalation airborne emerges as critical concern, with possible implications for respiratory cardiovascular health. Dermal contact, although explored, raises prospect skin irritation allergic reactions. impacts COVID-19 pollution also highlighted. Throughout manuscript, need deeper mechanistic understanding interactions systems is emphasized, underscoring urgency further research public awareness.

Biomass and plastics are two of the most common municipal solid wastes globally that have continuously placed a burden on environment. It is therefore important they properly recycled. Thermochemical co-conversion offers valuable opportunity to recycle biomass simultaneously into biochar, which reduces time cost recycling them individually while producing material with wide range applications. This study review published literature discusses thermochemical co-processing plastic biochar. was observed co-pyrolysis co-hydrothermal carbonization commonly utilized technologies for this process. The characteristics different been thermochemically converted biochar were compared. properties resulting affected by feedstock composition, pre-treatment blending ratio, reactor's configuration, reaction temperature, presence catalyst. Most studies found treating feedstocks separately resulted in lower yield than processing together. created procedure has used as soil additive an adsorbent water treatment. Future perspectives suggestions, such necessity some technical advancement, biochar's economic benefits, improved government participation, raised social awareness, also made. These factors potential propel field great horizons.
