Textile industry wastewater has become a growing concern in recent years due to it been characterized by high load of organic dyes, suspended and dissolved solids, alkaline pH, low biodegradability. As result, environmental authorities necessitate textile industries treat effluents before discharge into the environment. Tertiary filters, particularly membrane filtrations, are most preferable process recover good-quality water at tertiary treatment phase, which feeds from secondary effluents, processes. However, fouling is still challenge higher colloids, matter, level bio-colloids (mostly effluents) process. Bio-colloids any colloidal entities matter including microorganisms their exudates. Hence, coagulation/flocculation unit process, as pretreatment option, critical both primary stage after (biological) prevent problems filters. We reviewed identifying major foulants causing filter damage available option for removal these foulants. focus on suggest good alternative provides reliable turbidity that arises solids colloids. Amongst different types foulants, we present bio-colloidal could be causes fouling. These less understood expected dominant wastewater, established alternatives not well developed bio-foulants fed effluent. Thus, need critically identified plants integrate suitable options potentiality. proposed reduce stage, next effluent, critical.
