In the O3 self-decomposition process, poor conversion from HO2• to HO2ˉ limits decomposition and •OH production. Although addition of Fenton’s reagent facilitates this H2O2 consumption Fe(III) sedimentation must be addressed. study, carbon-coated Fe3O4 (Fe3O4@C) samples were prepared using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) modification method for catalytic ozonation aromatics, which effectively solved above challenges. The fabricated 4-Fe3O4@C catalyst not only exhibited a yolk-shell structure, but also increased production by 9-fold, resulting in optimal target removal, mineralization, efficiency. Further investigation confirmed that activity was owing combined action Fe(II) on surface produced aromatic degradation. Furthermore, outer carbon layer with reducing properties regenerated timely manner, ensuring durability. Finally, clear pathway enhancing generation is proposed.

Brominated byproducts and toxicity generation are critical issues for ozone application to wastewater containing bromide. This study demonstrated that ultraviolet/ozone (UV/O3, 100 mJ/cm2, 1 mg-O3/mg-DOC) reduced the cytotoxicity of from 14.2 mg pentol/L produced by ozonation 4.3 (1 mg/L bromide, pH 7.0). The genotoxicity was also 1.65 0.17 μg-4-NQO/L UV/O3. Compared with O3 alone, adsorbable organic bromine 25.8 5.3 μg/L UV/O3, but bromate increased 32.9 71.4 μg/L. UV/O3 process enhanced removal pre-existing precursors (highly unsaturated phenolic compounds poly aromatic hydrocarbons), while new were generated, yet combined effect on did not result in a significant change toxicity. Instead, UV radiation inhibited HOBr concentration through both rapid decomposition reduce production formed HOBr, thus suppressing AOBr formation. However, hydroxyl radical-dominated pathway led increase bromate. Considering bromate, effectively controlled mammalian cells, even though an emphasis should be placed managing elevated Futhermore, other end points needed evaluate outcomes process.

Published: Dec. 17, 2023

The advanced oxidation process (AOPs) based on natural pyrite (NP) as a catalyst is promising strategy for flotation wastewater purification. However, the slow Fe(III)/Fe(II) cycle limits number of active sites during oxidant activation. Therefore, this work attempts to accelerate reduction NP surface by introducing visible light irradiation. By comparing degradation performance sodium butylxanthate (SBX) via various oxidants (peroxydisulfate, periodate, hydrogen peroxide, and sulfite) activation under light, periodate was selected most suitable SBX removal. Although peroxydisulfate exhibits optimal in acidic environments, its failure alkaline environments poor reusability caused high limit application. investigation species suggests that O 2 [Formula: see text] are dominant peroxide sulfite systems, while electron transfer systems. Electrochemistry elucidates interaction different surface. XPS analysis revealed photogenerated electrons induced irradiation surface, thereby improving continuous towards oxidants. In addition, ecotoxicity treated system greatly reduced. This provides new idea
