A functionalized chitosan thiourea composite (CH-TU) was successfully synthesized using formaldehyde as a crosslinking agent for enhancing silver recovery from different aqueous solutions. Comparison sorption studies with non-functionalized (CH-F) reference material were conducted. Grafting led to an improvement in the performances, i.e., 0.763 mmol Ag g−1 CH-F vs. 2.125 CH-TU. The pseudo-first-order rate equation (PFORE) fitted kinetics at saturation times of 40 and 30 min CH-TU, respectively, while isotherms Langmuir Sips equations both sorbents. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), nitrogen sorption–desorption (BET-surface area), elemental analysis, thermogravimetric (TGA) pH zero charge (pHpzc) used characterize investigate mechanism. Sorption performed three check reproducibility, performances stable over 20 cycles, limited decrease performance (5 3% respectively). Nitric acid solution (0.3 M) efficient desorbing adsorbed metal ions. grafted sorbent is considered promising tool recovering Ag(I) acidic waste leachate derived spent films.

A new green water treatment agent, a poly(aspartic acid)-modified polymer (PASP/5-AVA), was synthesized using polysuccinimide and 5-aminovaleric acid (5-AVA) in hybrid system. Abstract BACKGROUND Arsenic contamination can exert severe detrimental effects on the ecological environment and human health. It cause acute or chronic poisoning, resulting in cell distortion cancer when humans come into contact with consume arsenic‐containing water. Adsorption technology is one of effective methods for arsenic removal. In this study, using attapulgite (ATP) as a support bimetallic iron–manganese oxides, series adsorbents (Fe‐Mn/ATP) different manganese‐to‐iron molar ratios were prepared via coprecipitation method. Scanning electron microscopy coupled energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy mapping, diffraction zeta potential measurements used to analyze structure properties Fe‐Mn/ATP. addition, adsorption performance material ions was investigated by static dynamic experiments. RESULTS A novel Fe‐Mn/ATP adsorbent ATP raw ratio 1:3 at 60 °C 1 h. The efficiency optimal an dosage 2 g L −1 , pH 4 time 10 min, reaching maximum capacity 38.27 mg room temperature. process followed pseudo‐second‐order kinetic model Langmuir isotherm model, indicating that ion mainly monolayer chemical adsorption.
