The partial nitritation (PN)–anammox (PN/A) process offers a sustainable alternative to nitrogen management in wastewater treatment, addressing the high costs and increasing low eco-friendliness associated with traditional nitrification/denitrification processes. Stable (PN) is critical for effective PN/A operation, this study specifically focused on need suppress nitrite-oxidizing bacteria (NOB) facilitate enrichment of ammonia-oxidizing (AOB). Utilizing two sequencing batch reactors (SBRs), PN1 PN2 different free ammonia (FA) concentrations, aimed evaluate NOB suppression strategy while enriching AOB. reactor, which operated higher initial FA concentration (50 mg/L), successfully maintained activity, 96.1% ammonium removal efficiency (ARE) 95.1% nitrite accumulation (NAE) at reduced influent NH4+-N concentrations mg NH4+-N/L, 10 mg/L).
