In light of the rapid advancement dyeing industry, resultant environmental contamination from extensive dye utilization and subsequent sludge generated by treatment wastewater has escalated, prompting broad apprehension. This study employed response surface methodology to explore iodine adsorption capacity pyrolyzed peat treated with ZnCl2 [ZnCl2 modified biochar (ZSC)] as adsorbent material for optimization parameters ZSC preparation. The analysis variance methods indicated that pyrolysis temperature emerged most pivotal factor. maximum malachite green (MG) reached up 224.0962 mg/g. Moreover, adsorptive efficacy on MG was evaluated under varying conditions, showcasing optimal facilitated a remarkable removal efficiency 99.13%. Even after five cycles reuse, maintained substantial decolorization capability 45% MG. Characterization through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) high specific area 495.38 m2/g presence reactive functional groups (–OH C–O). process, upon thermodynamic kinetic evaluation, aligned more closely Langmuir isotherm model pseudo-second-order model. Mechanistic results revealed electrostatic attraction, pore-filling, hydrogen bonding, π-π stacking interactions collectively accounted elevated ZSC. represents promising approach, transforming waste into solution dual purpose resource reclamation sludge.

The necessity for freshwater is growing as the global population continues to expand. One of practices scientific community has proposed address present crisis water desalination. This process promotes production fresh from salty water. Due significance high salt removal efficiency, cheap cost, minimal environmental effect, and comparatively low energy requirement, adsorption considered a potential method Predominantly, techniques do not use chemicals. Among frequently studied adsorbents desalination are activated carbons, zeolites, carbon nanomaterials, graphene, metal or covalent organic framework materials. These materials exhibit various capabilities in terms rate, capacity, stability, recyclability. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) two next-generation that show numerous functions with increased transport capabilities, play significant role have been very appealing enhancers process. However, most functional drawbacks, including need specialized synthesis methods, agglomeration, leaching, issues related environment human health. chapter will focus on current trends adsorbent material development evaluate recent their properties, which might help design an engineering application standpoint.
