In this study, raw ilmenite nanoparticles (ILM) were used as a photocatalyst with peroxymonosulfate (PMS) and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) to remove rhodamine B dye from wastewater. The synthesized g-C3N4 was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis. ILM XRD, FESEM, energy-dispersive (EDX). experiments carried out in rectangular Plexiglas pilot reactor practical volume of 3 L. OFAT method (One Factor at Time) optimized the influencing parameters. At pH = 3, after 180 min treatment, 99.7% removal 50 mg/L achieved presence 500 ILM, 300 PMS, 200 g-C3N4. Mineralization results showed 83.2% COD 75.8% TOC treatment. Kinetic analysis reactions indicated pseudo-first-order dependence. According scavenger sulfate radicals (S $$\dot{O}$$ 4−), hydroxyl ( $$\dot{O}H$$ ), superoxide 2−) main active species for removal. ICP-MS revealed that leached concentrations iron, magnesium, calcium ions 2.6, 1.62, 5.41 mg/L, respectively, lower than permissible limits wastewater discharge.
