ABSTRACT This work aims to valorize pine cones powder (PCP), an agricultural waste, as a bioadsorbent for the removal of cationic dye, Rhodamine B (RhB), and hexavalent chromium Cr(VI) from aqueous solution. The adsorbent was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier‐transformed infrared (FTIR), X‐ray diffractometer (XRD) spectroscopy. Adsorption studies were carried out in batch mode under different operating parameters like initial solution pH (2–11), dosage (0.025–0.6 g), contaminant concentration (20–100 mg/L), temperature (283–328K), contact time (0–120 min), ionic strength (NaCl, MgCl 2 , CuSO 4 Na SO FeCl 3 ). optimum conditions adsorption were; ([Cr(VI)] = 30 mg/L, 2, dose 1.5 g/L, T 25°C), RhB: ([RhB] 4.6, 25°C). Under these conditions, maximum capacities reached 19.861 6.565 mg/g, RhB, respectively. inhibiting effect studied salts on RhB dye metal ion is follows: > NaCl. Freundlich isotherm described best Cr (VI) onto PCP, since it gave highest R values (R ≥ 0.983) associated with lowest error (χ RMSE, Δq). calculated Dubinin–Radushkevich mean energy (E) less than 8 kJ/mol. It 3.391 kJ/mol 2.310 sorption, respectively, confirming physical character PCP sorbent. Experimental data fitted well pseudo‐second‐order kinetic model 0.997). According thermodynamic analysis, retention followed physisorption, endothermic, spontaneous process at all temperatures Cr(VI), higher dye. These results suggest that raw may be envisaged promising biosorbent water remediation without need costly heat activation processes cheap sustainable process.
