Ethiopia has experienced rapid urbanization over the past three decades. Several cities expanded rapidly and many satellite towns sprung up around major cities. The high rate of urban growth resulted in demand for land, mainly industrial, commercial, residential purposes. In order to meet demand, an enormous amount land been made available use, through conversion. However, we know very little about how efficiently use land. This paper investigated efficiency (ULUE) sixteen Ethiopia. Remote sensing data (Landsat 7/8) was analysed with ArcGIS assess spatiotemporal changes between 2007 2019. Built-up environment footprints were computed from Google Earth imagery. ratio consumption population rate, infill assessed. findings revealed a prevalence inefficiencies all most cities, far exceeds rate. Densification (urban infill) is low slow. A considerable part converted agricultural sits idle within built-up area years. Low ULUE what fuels sprawl, fragmentation informal settlements. study emphasised need implement policies practices aimed at improving ULUE. Improving imperative achieve Sustainable Development Goals; ensuring sustainable use; addressing prices housing shortages; protecting farmland ecosystems; tackling hoarding, sprawl

With the rapid development of urbanization, land transfer has become a significant part urban development. This article builds comprehensive evaluation system to quantify new-type urbanization level agglomeration in middle reaches Yangtze River from 2006 2017. To explore relationship between two more clearly, spatial econometric model and threshold panel are used how affects urbanization. The results show that: is characterized by fluctuating increases, but that regional differences an expanding trend. Moran’s I fluctuates at approximately 0.120, showing positive correlation. estimation Durbin (SDM) indicate coefficient its lag 0.040 0.006 respectively, indicating it impacts on there nonlinear new will change both negative directions with changes government intervention.

Urban land green use efficiency (ULGUE) is one of the important indicators growth, making limited resources exert optimal benefits and minimize environmental pollution, enabling development cities. This survey measures ULGUE 284 Chinese cities at prefecture level above using Super-SBM model, built around panel data from 2004 to 2021. The geographic temporal evolution features are studied ArcGIS exploratory spatio-temporal analysis (ESTDA). elements influencing assessed a spatial econometric model. It found that: (1) fluctuates rises with time but has still not achieved validity in general; regionally, west > east central, an overall roughly decreasing trend perimeter center; provincially, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Hainan basically achieve validity. (2) Each city's enthusiastic association. number dynamic local structures increases, strong dependence regional synergy be further strengthened. leap matrix indicates that most have undergone transformation cohesion. In Ethiopia, since 1993, urban land lease policy has been in place to facilitate transfer for residential, commercial and industrial purposes. As a result, many cities, including Addis Ababa, have witnessed enormous boundary expansion mainly through farmland conversion. Over the past two decades, though Ababa experienced rapid spatial expansion, very little is known about use efficiency (ULUE) of city. This paper analysed ULUE using remote sensing data. Emphasis was given assessment spatiotemporal changes 2004. Satellite imagery analysis done ArcGIS software. Besides, quantitative qualitative data from secondary sources were studied. Moreover, field observation conducted. Research findings showed that almost all frontiers (Bole Akaki-Kaliti sub-cities) there prevalence inefficiencies, i.e. pervasive practices hoarding fragmentation. Urban sprawl rampant with significant part transferred being left vacant or underutilised years. The problem country could be attributed institutional weaknesses, gaps, particularly, areas implementation. To improve productivity, limit eviction ensure sustainable growth, city should emphasise on improving ULUE. study highlighted mere formulation not enough efficient use. achieve goals, strengthening institutions, working towards functionality, what policymakers focus on.
