Cropland serves as the most vital resource for agricultural production, while its security is primarily threatened by abandonment. Northeast Guangdong Province features a fragmented terrain and faces significant issue of farmland It crucial to analyze phenomenon cropland abandonment safeguard food security. However, due limitations in data sources attribution methods, previous studies struggled comprehensively characterize driving mechanisms abandoned land. Using from Sentinel time series remote-sensing images, we employed land use change trajectory method map Jiaoling County 2019 2023. Furthermore, proposed novel analytical framework quantify influence pathways interaction effects The results indicate that: (1) overall accuracy extraction 79.6%. E-commerce, as a prominent feature of the digital economy era, is highly expected to promote economic growth and sustainable development. Based on 2020 “China Rural Revitalization Survey” data, this study empirically analyzed impact mechanism literacy discrepancy between willingness behavior farmers in e-commerce sales. Eleven indicator items were selected, factor analysis was used obtain comprehensive score literacy. Firstly, benchmark regression performed using probit model, then potential endogeneity issues addressed IV method endogenous conversion model. The following main conclusions drawn: Digital has suppressive effect deviation Farmers with media operation literacy, information acquisition transaction cognitive social have 12.3%, 18.3%, 26.2%, 37.5%, 21.9% reduction probability sales compared those without these counterfactual assumptions. helps curb farmers’ by facilitating their access financial resources agricultural production services. This demonstrates that enhancing will convert into behavior, help products more efficiently, make important contributions

Farmland abandonment has become a significant challenge in global agriculture, with the issue being particularly severe China. This phenomenon not only threatens food security but also contributes to various environmental problems. The rise of digital technology offers new opportunities address this pressing issue. study systematically analyzes impact on farmland from micro-level perspective, using nationwide survey 3409 households. A multi-dimensional indicator framework is developed, incorporating general technology, information exchange, and functionality. Empirical models, including IV-Probit 2SLS, were employed analyze data. results show that plays role reducing by increasing farmers’ income levels encouraging adoption agricultural production services. Specifically, use tools enhances income, which turn strengthens their willingness continue farming. Moreover, it facilitates access services, lowering costs improving land-use efficiency. finds varies depending factors such as terrain, urban-rural divides, farmer types. suppressive effect more pronounced non-plain areas, non-suburban regions, among full-time or part-time farmers. Based these findings, recommends expanding infrastructure, streamlining land transfers, implementing region-specific support, enhancing policy incentives integrate technologies abandonment. ABSTRACT The popularization of information and communication technology (ICT), particularly the extensive use digital technologies in rural areas, has propelled growth e‐commerce. Despite non‐negligible role played by e‐commerce revitalization China's how such gains are distributed among households remains underexplored. This study aims to assess development affects income inequality households, exploring both direct impacts underlying mechanisms. We utilize quasi‐natural experiment with “Rural E‐commerce Comprehensive Demonstration Project” (RECD project) data from China Household Finance Survey (CHFS) spanning 2013 2019. find that significantly reduces inequality. effect complements finance is more pronounced regions online sales agricultural products. Furthermore, this reduction significant regardless ex‐ante county poverty level. Mechanisms analysis illustrates: (1) a skewed‐income increasing effect; (2) efficient reallocation labor between non‐agricultural sectors; (3) minimal impact on entrepreneurship due physical capital constraints. These findings provide empirical support for agriculture policies offer guidance emerging economies aiming increase farmer incomes reduce household disparities.

The de-agrarianisation of the labor force in poverty alleviation resettlement (PAR) inevitably influences households’ farmland management and abandonment relocated areas. Drawing on survey data from 1079 households Shaanxi, China, this study uses Heckman two-stage model to empirically examine relationship between non-farm employment Additionally, it explores heterogeneity by considering quantity spatial distribution employment, as well moderating effect withdrawal rural homesteads (WRH). results show that: (1) significantly promotes both behavioral scale abandonment, with magnitude impact varying based employment; (2) Heterogeneity analyses that areas exert a noteworthy positive abandonment. On average, farmers engaged outside county (NEO) exhibit higher marginal aspects compared those within (NEI). Furthermore, only when number NEI reaches 3 does probability surpass NEO; (3) Mechanism analysis sheds light role WRH, indicating cultivation land WRH weakens promotion particularly group. Conversely, duration strengthens contributions is concentrated NEO These findings underscore importance actively cultivating introducing new types agricultural entities, promoting moderate-scale operation farmland, encouraging recultivation withdrawn strategies curb
