This study examines the impact of European Union’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) funds, specifically Fund for Rural Development (FEADR) and Guarantee (FEGA), on a range economic, social, environmental outcomes across regions. Utilizing Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) estimators, this research analyses 13 equations corresponding to various dependent variables, including employment rates, poverty levels, agricultural productivity, indicators such as greenhouse gas emissions renewable energy production from agriculture. analysis covers period 2010 2021, draws upon balanced sample 301 observations ensure robust estimations. Results indicate that both FEADR FEGA payments significantly influence these regional outcomes, though effects vary depending specific economic or indicator examined. The findings reveal while positively rural employment, income, production, they are less effective in addressing reduction productivity enhancement. Conversely, exhibit stronger but have mixed sustainability. highlights significant disparities, suggesting allocation CAP funds is uneven its implications policymakers clear: more tailored approach required enhance effectiveness meeting diverse needs, particularly promoting development minimizing harm. also emphasizes need further explore alternative policy mechanisms innovative practices can bridge gaps identified current framework. Limitations include data availability inherent complexity systems, which may affect generalizability results different EU member states.

With China’s urbanization process and changes in rural family structures, the abandonment of farmland scattered villages within hilly mountainous regions is becoming an increasingly serious issue, restricting improvement land use efficiency. This study analyzes basic characteristics variations abandoned by conducting surveys interviews with peasants a village southern China. Using Heckman two-stage model, we perform empirical analysis on factors influencing abandonment, addressing potential sample selection bias. The findings show following: better health higher education levels are more likely to transition non-agricultural occupations which contributes increased farmland. However, larger integrated parcels, along favorable farming conditions, help reduce abandonment. Additionally, transfer agricultural subsidies important that enhance utilization mitigate These results provide reference for improving both environment social policies villages.

Abstract Crop rotation and fallow practices are increasingly adopted to mitigate ecological resource pressures accelerate the development of modern agriculture. These have significant implications for environmental protection, soil quality enhancement promotion sustainable, high‐quality agricultural development. Despite their importance, empirical research on factors influencing participation in crop remains limited comparative analyses different compensation scenarios scarce. This study, grounded behavioural economics, utilizes data from China Rural Revitalization Survey (CRRS) employs propensity score matching (PSM) binary logistic regression models analyse farmers' behaviour regarding both induced voluntary fallow. The aims identify that influence decisions engage these practices. findings indicate that, under a fixed subsidy standard, rates were 14.5% 5.4%, respectively. Among farmers participating rotation, 43.8% induced, while 56.2% voluntary. For practices, 47.9% participants 52.1% In context fallow, subsidies significantly increased willingness participate ( p ‐value <.001). Conversely, contexts, endowment had positive impact <.1), whereas path dependence policy awareness constrained <.05). varied across regions, with other also exhibiting notable heterogeneity. results this offer valuable guidance implementation future programmes. Additionally, they provide insights into relationship between systems welfare underdeveloped areas, suggesting improvements offering new perspectives further research.
