Crises like wars, terrorist attacks, and economic or health crises are frequently followed by profound changes in political trust. Whereas dominated immediate external threats often induce a strong initial increase trust, the “rally-around-the-flag” effect, prolonged events more detrimental to this core feature of support. We extend previous research on long-term shifts trust during extended focusing case global Covid-19 pandemic. Drawing individual-level panel data from Germany (N=21,001, 2017-2022) district-level infection rates government-imposed restrictions, we distinguish time trends both government action crisis severity. Estimating fixed-effects regression models, present robust evidence throughout 2020 early 2021, significant decline across different objects 2021/22. Contrary extant work, find limited influence rates, whereas stringent policies explain decreasing later These results including pandemic experiences work family life. Thus, our provide first that rally effect remains discernible at least one year into role becomes reversed over course crisis.

Infectious diseases that spread silently through asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic infections represent a challenge for policy makers. A traditional way of achieving isolation silent infectors from the community is forward contact tracing, aimed at identifying individuals might have been infected by known person. In this work we investigate how efficient measure in preventing disease becoming endemic. We introduce an SIS-based compartmental model where symptomatic may self-isolate and trigger tracing process quarantining individuals. Imperfect adherence delays affect both measures. derive epidemic threshold analytically find alone can only lead to very limited increase threshold. quantify effect imperfect impact incentivizing populations adhere isolation. Our analytical results are confirmed simulations on complex networks numerical analysis much more incorporating realistic in-host progression.

Background:The recent COVID-19 pandemic dramatically underlined the multi-faceted nature of health research, requiring input from basic biological sciences, pharmaceutical technologies, clinical research), social sciences and public engineering. Systems that could work across different disciplines would therefore seem to be a useful idea explore. In this study we investigated whether metadata schemas vocabularies used for discovering scientific studies resources in humanities research are similar enough allow information source easily retrieved presented together. Methods:As first step literature search was performed, exemplarily identifying resources, which data have been usefully employed or integrated with trials. second comparison related resource catalogues ECRIN (European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network) CESSDA (Consortium European Social Science Data Archives) performed. The focus on discovery metadata, here defined as elements identify locate resources. Results:A close view at well crosswalk between shown there is considerable resemblance them. Conclusions:The serve promising starting point implement common mechanism metadata. paper four options how proceed implementation issues presented.
