Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common in females, with many experiencing at least one episode their lifetime. About 150 million cases of UTIs occur each year. Lately, prognosis has been poor, largely due to a rise antimicrobial resistance uropathogens. The present study was conducted describe female clients Zomba Central Hospital Malawi. This retrospective cross-sectional where 340 records women suffering from were evaluated. Records analysed for demographic characteristics, causative agent and susceptibility profile. Data cleaned Excel 2016. overall prevalence 48.53%, age group 15-45 having higher frequency (53.33%) than other groups. frequently isolated bacteria Escherichia coli (27.2%), Staphylococcus species (26.5%), Enterobacter (19.2%), Citrobacter freundii (11.9%), Proteus (6.0%), Enterococcus species, Serratia marcescens (4.6%). Comparatively, meropenem amikacin effective against pathogens showing average sensitivity rates 51% 56% respectively. Nevertheless, high levels ampicillin (87%), ceftriaxone (77%) ciprofloxacin (70%), gentamicin (77%), cefoxitin (64%) observed. remain significant health concern females Hospital, particularly reproductive group. multidrug-resistant uropathogens, especially commonly used antibiotics like ceftriaxone, underscores urgent need regular surveillance evidence-based antibiotic stewardship guide treatment strategies.
