Brazilian biodiversity is still poorly studied, especially in the northeast region of Brazil. In state Maranhão, rich fauna under-explored relation to Cladocera, and this geographic area covers four biomes, which makes it an important field research on Cladocera community. work, record three species reported: Dadaya macrops Sars, 1901 first genus for state, Simocephalus serrulatus (Koch, 1841) latirostris (Stingelin, 1906). The work presents brief descriptions illustrations morphology studied species.

Abstract Aim This study aims to contribute elucidating the importance of experimental research on freshwater zooplankton communities in Brazil through a scientometric analysis. Methods Web Science, SciELO, and Scopus databases were used compile 249 scientific papers published between 1978 2023. The extracted data included year publication, geographical location, experiment characteristics (type, scale, duration), species or taxa studied, topics. Quantitative qualitative syntheses performed provide systematic understanding studies zooplankton. Results analysis revealed significant increase number over time, with higher concentration Southeastern region Brazil. Laboratory experiments conducted greater frequency than field experiments, mainly microcosms. Predation, chemical pollutants, eutrophication emerged as frequently addressed On other hand, certain topics, such metapopulation dynamics microplastics, relatively underrepresented literature. Despite crucial role advancing ecological Brazil, there is an unequal distribution these across country, indicating need for investment more researchers prepared interested studying regions. Addressing gaps identified this review, dispersion, along emerging threats like invasions, pathogens, cumulative stressors, contaminants, nanomaterials, will be essential generating knowledge inform effective management strategies preserve biodiversity amidst ongoing environmental changes. Conclusions review underscores expanding diverse regions underexplored topics enhance our better manage
