AbstractThe chiton Chaetopleura isabellei is a common species in the intertidal shores of southwestern Atlantic Ocean. This study investigates age, individual growth, and mortality C. on an boulder shore San Antonio Bay (40°45' S, 064°56' W), Patagonia, Argentina. Growth rings valves were validated as annual, forming during warm season, pattern unusual among chitons. The age structure showed stable population, with most individuals between 2 7 years maximum observed longevity 11 years. growth pattern, analyzed through both polynomial models von Bertalanffy model, indicated rapid early years, followed by slower later stages. Mortality was best described Siler indicating variable rates across lifespan, higher risks late life These findings provide insights into history isabellei, emphasizing influence environmental factors this species.
